The exceptional exemption for a personal phone brought in from abroad ended on January 21, 2026. Egyptians residing abroad get a grace period of 120 days from the date the device is first activated in Egypt, while tourists get 90 days.

What happens if I do not pay the fees on my Huawei phone?
Once the grace period ends, the phone stops working on Egyptian mobile networks, although it can still be used over Wi-Fi. The device is reconnected to the networks after the payment is completed successfully.

Do the fees cover HUAWEI Watch or MatePad devices?
No. These fees apply to mobile phones only, and do not cover HUAWEI Watch smartwatches, MatePad tablets or FreeBuds earbuds.
